Sometimes
writing this stuff down is just too hard. How can I give justice
to watching Dick Tyler meeting up with old friends he hasn't seen
in 30 years? By telling you he had tears in his eyes all afternoon?
Like that would present any of the emotion of Sunday?
I
could tell you of the comments the guests made about Chuck Pendleton,
who must have been truly remarkable. I met him only twice for a
few minutes each time, not enough to know more than that he seemed
nice and I liked him. The stories I heard over the weekend were
of a man who didn't forget special events, hadn't forgotten Mickey
Hargitay's wedding anniversary in 30 years, didn't miss a friend's
birthday, wouldn't be late for an appearance at a charity event,
nor to help a widow move her belongings across the canyon.
You
might enjoy the visual of the Gov-to-be, Dave, Franco and Eddie
hanging out behind the gym, though. Wish I had a picture to show
you how some things never change, no matter how different the facts
get. Alas, I was in the front of the gym like a good little girl,
camera in sleep mode.
