John's Bomber Blend Protein Powder Secrets
At three and four Bomber Blend drinks per day and somewhere around 12 pounds consumption per month, I've discovered by trial and error a few ways to make mixing, tasting, consuming and cleaning up my re-fueling experience user friendly.
For starters, I don't use milk as the base fluid even on carb-loading days. I've tried all kinds of brands including lactose free ones. There's something in the milk that produces a "sticky" by-product that makes clean-up long and tedious. So I stick with water. 16 ounces will do it.
Now, we all know there is no secret. But if there were a secret to mixing Bomber Blend, this next tip would be it. Add 2 tablespoons of heavy cream. Yeah, that's right: Thick, heavy cream. There's no carbohydrates in heavy cream and the fat therein makes clean-up a breeze. But the part I like about this secret ingredient is the consistency it produces after a couple minutes of mixing. Thick and rich. A reward worthy of a iron-pumping brother. It also helps keep the other additions to the mix IN the mix.
Next, is 2 tablespoons of Udo's Choice EFA oil blend. The stuff combines well with the secret ingredient and the two digest well together.
Now add the 2 tablespoons of psyllium husks - not the powdered junk, the real, raw husks. Yeah, I know they taste a little "grainy" in the bottom of the drink. But the secret ingredient helps keep them in solution longer, making the entire drinking experience more pleasurable and only the last gulp or two any a bit challenging.
Add a teaspoon of creatine. You don't know what you'll be eating today perhaps. You might skip your beef or replace it with chicken. Cover your creatine re-fueling base. Add it to your Bomber Blend drink.
Finally, but optionally (but always for me), add a teaspoon of ground cinnamon powder. The stuff makes vanilla and chocolate Bomber Blend taste extra fantastic. Which is reason enough. But I put it in the blend because cinnamon is loaded with chromium. Why take expensive supplements for chromium when you can add it to your protein drink for $0.01 per drink?
I mix all of the above with 2 full scoops of Bomber Blend protein in a 2-quart, glass measuring pitcher. Glass is the key next to the secret ingredient that makes clean-up easy and healthy. Remember, I'm doing this 3-4 times per day, so I want the clean-up quick and asceptic. Glass cleans up well and food items don't stick to it as easily as it does to plastic. If you use the same plastic mixing vessel repeatedly, over time, you'll notice it develops scratches and scuffs along the sides. I noticed drink-remains sticking to the sides on my old plastic measuring cup more than it does with the glass version.
Drink the Bomber Blend right out of the mixing pitcher. Saves on precious liquid loss of protein and psyllium. Swish it around every so often to keep it mixed. Use it to wash down your vitamin/mineral supplements. Take your glucosamine sulfate with it. Enjoy every sip, every gulp, every mouthful. Savor the present and after flavor. This is it. This is home. A comfort drink. You're doing the right thing for your body, for you. Bomber's Blend. Do it.
There is no secret!
