NEGATIVE WORKOUT CONDITIONS

What is it that causes us to be down when, according to our mental diary, we should be up and aspiring?

There are a variety of subtle conditions we respond to, and any combination of them contributes to our state-of-being. To shed light on the dilemma, consider the following factors when you struggle with a slump:

  1. Nutritional menu — too fatty, too little protein, too much sugar, too many unusual foods that confuse metabolism, destroy energy and eventually retard muscle growth,

  2. Level of training — excessive/extensive training, too long without sufficient layoff,

  3. Low-grade body infection — flu, tooth disorder, minor food poisoning that causes nearly imperceptible bodyache, congestion, minor headache and defeat,

  4. Minor injury — diminishing total voluntary output,

  5. Stress — subtle distractions that errode basic physical, emotional and spiritual structure, and

  6. Negativity — the attitude of submission in relation to the natural phenomenon of "being down" without an obvious explanation.

Being aware of these insidious human weaknesses may provide the God-given strength to fight and overcome them.
