Remembers
I
have followed and received a lot of inspiration and help from following
the IronOnline group for six months +/-. As I have previously posted,
I am 70 and my main motivation in working out is my general health
and avoiding ongoing prescription medication for blood pressure
etc. I have no illusions of competing or even having the muscular
definition that most of the rest of you strive for.
I was just remembering, I believe it was around 1940 that Joe Weider
had the ads in the magazines about the 90 lb weakling on the beach
with a big guy kicking sand in his face. Of course he wanted you
to send for free info on how to be the big guy.
Then
I was thinking about going back a couple more generations, no one
had the time or even thought about bodybuilding. They were to busy
working out doing physical labor that machinery and technology have
made completely unnecessary They were unable to take time for their
muscles to recuperate or mend from one day to the next. They did
not know what fast food or processed food was. Theirs was the "side
of beef and basket of fresh vegetables", home canned or preserved.
We
have come a long way and I have no interest in going back. As for
me I will continue to drive down to the gym and workout for a hour
or so and do my best to eat healthy. I just returned from a 9mile
2hr.20min walk with a friend and feel great. Don B
