Suz Claims Her Space

I began working out in a 24 Hr Fitness here in California. Typically, those gyms have one room for machines and a separate room for free weights. In the old days, the machine room was used by women and/or men, but the free weight room rarely saw a woman. The free weight room was officially named "the Advanced Training Area."

One day I decided I was ready for "advanced training" and wandered into the free weight room. A huge big gorilla-type guy got in my face and told me, "hey lady, this room is kinda reserved for us--you know--macho male types."

I told him that I didn't realize that macho was a gender issue, and proceeded to claim my space in the gym.

After that, I went back to the free weight room nearly everyday, and began to get the mass and definition that comes with serious training. The gorilla guys quit trying to mess with my head, and as time passed, more women broke ranks and infiltrated the sacred free weight room.
